The brush is engineered to fit tightly into the aluminum holder, allowing the brush to not fall out even in the highest traffic commercial wood door applications.

The majority of door astragals on the market are only designed for residential use with extremely low traffic, resulting in the brush falling out within a week of use if installed on a commercial commercial wood door. The All American door astragal is made for solid core wood doors and will last for years in the highest traffic door applications.

Retrofitting An Astragal On A Commercial Wood Door Pair

If your commercial wood door pair has a gap between the two doors, then this All American Astragal is perfect for your application. It is important to note that this product can be installed on any commercial wood door pair, however some cutting of the astragal's aluminum door holder may be necessary if your wood door has hardware that is very close to the leading edge of the door. For example, some commercial wood doors are outfitted with cylindrical locks that have an unusually large rose trim (round finish plate behind the lever) which can have a footprint that is almost at the edge of the door. In these door applications, the All American door astragal can still be surface mounted to the face of the door, but some cutting of the astragal aluminum holder will need to be completed in order to fit it around the oversized lock trim. Likewise trimming of the astragal door holder may also be necessary if your commercial wood door had any kind of special prep with locking hardware very close to the edge of the door.
