Wall Type & Exterior Weatherproofing - Steel Stud with Veneer

Designed for steel stud wall systems with exterior veneer over a continuous WRB. The included threshold, sill flashing, and head flashing/drip edge integrate with the wall’s drainage plane to shed water to the exterior and reduce leak risk at both sill and transom head.

• Coordinate continuous WRB behind veneer; integrate pan/sill flashing that positively drains to exterior.
• Prepare a flat, level, structurally sound sill; bed threshold in continuous sealant; provide end dams/drip edges where detailed.
• Anchorage: fasten to structural steel studs or tube steel/headers using self-drilling screws or anchors per engineer; add blocking/reinforcement as required.
• Shim jambs, head, and transom mullions to maintain plumb, level, and square; verify clear opening and reveal uniformity.
• Perimeter-seal to WRB/transition membranes with backer rod and commercial-grade sealant; tool for a weather-tight joint.

Anchors and structural reinforcement are by installer so fastener type, length, and spacing match the specific stud gauge, sheathing, and veneer system per project engineering.

Typical Installation Sequence

1. Verify rough opening and layout; confirm system frame size 39-1/2" x 121-3/4".
2. Dry-fit components; assemble the pre-fabricated frame (KD) including transom section per instructions.
3. Install pan/sill flashing; bed threshold in continuous sealant; set and plumb the frame.
4. Anchor jambs, head, and transom mullions to structural studs/reinforcement; seal perimeter joints.
5. Install head flashing/drip edge above transom; integrate with WRB/through-wall flashing as detailed.
6. Adjust closer and hardware to ADA parameters; verify smooth operation and latch engagement.
7. Field glaze the transom: set blocks, install glass from the crate, apply glazing, secure stops; verify weatherseals.
8. Final QA: clear opening, sweep/latch speeds, and water-shed at sill and head.
