1.0 General
1.1 Summary
Provide Wood-Lite Architectural Series commercial wood veneer doors for interior applications. Doors shall be flush wood veneer construction with particleboard core and bonded construction, suitable for non-rated and 20-minute fire-rated openings where specified.
Wood-Lite Architectural Series doors are designed for commercial interior use and manufactured to meet architectural performance, appearance, and machining requirements for institutional, office, retail, hospitality, and related building applications.
2.0 Product
2.1 Door Construction
Wood-Lite Architectural Series wood veneer doors shall meet the following requirements:
- Interior use only
- Nominal thickness: 1-3/4"
- Bonded construction
- Particleboard core
- Available as non-rated and 20-minute fire-rated assemblies
2.2 Maximum Sizes
Provide doors within the following maximum sizes:
- Non-rated singles: 4'0" x 9'0"
- 20-minute fire-rated singles: 4'0" x 9'0"
- 20-minute fire-rated Cat B positive pressure singles: 4'0" x 9'0"
- Non-rated pairs: 8'0" x 9'0"
- 20-minute fire-rated pairs: 8'0" x 9'0"
- 20-minute fire-rated Cat B positive pressure pairs: 8'0" x 9'0"
2.3 Prefit Size
Unless otherwise specified, doors shall be prefit as follows:
- Singles: beveled 2 edges, 7/32" width and 7/8" height
- Pairs: beveled 2 edges, 3/16" width and 7/8" height
3.0 Materials and Fabrication
3.1 Face Veneers
- Wood veneers shall be WDMA A-Grade
- Plain sliced and rotary cut veneers: book and running match
- Rift cut veneers: slip and running match
3.2 Crossbands
- One-piece high density fiberboard (HDF)
3.3 Vertical Edges
- Matching or compatible hardwood edges
- Structural composite lumber backer
- 1-1/4" before trim
3.4 Horizontal Edges
- Default horizontal edges: structural composite lumber, 1-1/4" before trim
- Alternate wide rails: structural composite lumber, 5" for 7'0" doors and 13" for over 8'0" doors, before trim
3.5 Adhesive
- Face and core assembly adhesive shall be Type 1
3.6 Core Construction
- Wood-based particleboard core
4.0 Lite Openings, Louvers, and Machining
4.1 Lite Openings and Vision Options
- Factory glazing recommended
- Available with wood beads
- Available with metal vision frames
- Available with wood wrapped metal vision frames
- Available with applied grilles
4.2 Louvers
- Wood and metal louvers available in non-rated doors
4.3 Cutout Location
- Distance from lock and lite cutouts shall be per manufacturer requirements
4.4 Details
- Standard and custom applied moulding profiles available
- Standard and custom reveals available
- Standard and custom divided lites available upon request
4.5 Machining
- Machining preparation shall be in accordance with hardware manufacturer templates
5.0 Finish
- Factory finish available in clear finish
- Standard stain colors available
- Custom stain colors available
6.0 Acoustic Performance
Where specified, doors shall provide an acoustic rating of STC 30 operable when installed with tested seals and gaskets.
7.0 Standards and Performance
7.1 Environmental Compliance
- CARB PH2 compliant
- TSCA Title VI compliant
- FSC Rotary White Birch available upon request
7.2 Quality Standards
- Manufactured in accordance with WDMA I.S.1A Architectural Wood Flush Doors, standard construction
- WDMA Performance Duty Level: Heavy Duty
Note: This construction meets the Extra Heavy Duty performance level when surface mounted hardware is attached with through bolts.
7.3 Fire Rating
- Available as non-rated doors
- Available as 20-minute fire-rated neutral pressure doors
- Available as 20-minute fire-rated Cat B positive pressure doors
8.0 Weight
- Average door weight: 5.5 lbs/sf
9.0 Installation
Install Wood-Lite Architectural Series wood veneer doors in accordance with accepted industry practices, manufacturer recommendations, frame and hardware requirements, and applicable fire-rated opening requirements where specified.
Installer shall verify the following:
- Door size, swing, bevel, and handing are correct prior to installation
- Frames, hardware preparations, and clearances are compatible with door construction
- Factory finished surfaces are protected during delivery and installation
- Rated openings use listed and approved glazing, louvers, seals, and hardware as required
