1.0 General

1.1 Summary

Provide Steel-Lite full flush hollow metal doors for commercial and institutional openings. Doors shall be designed to provide a smooth, continuous face on both sides for a clean appearance, durability, and easy maintenance in high-use environments.

Steel-Lite full flush doors are suitable for a wide range of commercial applications including schools, offices, healthcare facilities, retail buildings, industrial spaces, and other interior or exterior openings where hollow metal doors are specified.

2.0 Product

2.1 Steel-Lite Full Flush Door Construction

Steel-Lite full flush hollow metal doors shall meet the following requirements:

• Full flush design with smooth, continuous face sheets on both sides
• Available in 14 ga., 16 ga., and 18 ga. steel
• Nominal door thickness: 1-3/4" standard, 1-3/8" available
• Available in standard heights from 6'8" to 10'0"
• Available in standard widths from 2'0" to 4'0"
• Custom heights and widths available
• Full range of hardware preparation configurations available
• Available with butted or hemmed edges
• Available with squared or beveled edges
• Factory finished in gray primer suitable for field painting

2.2 Core Options

Provide door core construction as specified for the opening requirements:

• Polystyrene core
• Steel-stiffened core
• Mineral board core

3.0 Fire Rating

Where required by the opening schedule, provide Steel-Lite full flush hollow metal doors with the appropriate fire rating.

• 20 minute
• 45 minute
• 60 minute
• 90 minute

Doors are available with fire ratings up to 3 hours where specified by the manufacturer and opening requirements.

4.0 Hardware Preparation

Doors shall be available with a full range of hardware preparation configurations to accommodate specified commercial hardware and job requirements.

Hardware preparations shall be provided in accordance with approved templates and accepted hollow metal door manufacturing practices.

5.0 Size and Configuration

Steel-Lite full flush hollow metal doors shall be available in the following standard size ranges:

• Standard heights: 6'8" through 10'0"
• Standard widths: 2'0" through 4'0"
• Custom heights and widths available upon request

6.0 Edge Options

• Butted edge
• Hemmed edge
• Squared edge
• Beveled edge

7.0 Finish

Doors shall be supplied with a factory applied gray primer finish suitable for field painting.

8.0 Installation

Install Steel-Lite full flush hollow metal doors in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, frame and hardware requirements, and accepted hollow metal door installation practices.

Installer shall verify the following:

• Door size, thickness, swing, and hardware preparations are correct prior to installation
• Frames are properly installed plumb, level, square, and free from twist or rack
• Door clearances comply with job requirements and applicable codes
• Factory primer finish is protected until field finishing is completed
• Rated openings are provided with listed and approved frame, hardware, glazing, and sealing components as required
