How To Measure Backset On A Deadlock, Deadlatch, Or Hookbolt

The most important factor in determining the right lock is to find the backset as illustrated in the image below. Backset is the measurement from the center line of the mortise lock hole to the face of the door stile. There are 3 backsets found on commercial aluminum storefront doors: 1-1/8", 31/32', and 1-1/2". The most popular backset is 1-1/8". So please use the illustrations below to carefully measure your backset, in order to determine the right lock you need.
