This door package is a 36 in x 84 in storefront door system. While the interior opening measures 36 in,the total frame width measures 39-1/2 in due to the 1-3/4 in frame face on each side.
For proper installation, a rough opening with approximately a 1/4 in gap on all sides is recommended,resulting in a typical 40 in wide rough opening. The same principle applies to height, with an86 in rough opening commonly used for an 84 in storefront door package.
Once the frame is positioned in the rough opening, mounting holes must be drilled and countersunk.Storefront frames are typically hollow-back designs, so anchors are installed directly through the face of the jamb.
Fastening begins on the hinge (pivot) side of the frame. The frame must be checked carefully for plumb and levelbefore tightening anchors. Shims may be required depending on wall conditions.
After anchoring the hinge side, the strike jamb is aligned to match the frame overhang.The saddle threshold is secured, and additional anchors are installed to fully stabilize the frame.
Proper support beneath the bottom pivot is critical. Inadequate support can lead to pivot failure over time,especially once the door weight is applied.
With the frame secured, the door is carefully hung by seating it onto the bottom pivot pinand compressing the spring-loaded top pivot into the frame header.The door should never be rested entirely on the pivot during installation.
Once installed, the door should swing freely without rubbing the threshold or frame.Final adjustments can be made using the pivot hinge set screw if needed.
After hanging the door, lock operation is verified. This model features a heavy-duty laminated hook bolt lockwith a keyed cylinder on both sides. A thumb turn option is also available.
The door is tested for smooth swing, proper alignment, and reliable lock engagement.
