Hey guys, Gary here with Door Closers USA. In today’s video, I’m going to show youhow to glaze our Alumitrex aluminum storefront door system. This process applies whether you purchased the door with glass or are glazing it in the field.
Each Alumitrex storefront door comes with the required glass stop extrusions to properly secure the glass:
All glass stops include integrated glazing vinyl designed to create a tight, weather-resistant sealonce installed.
Start on the interior side of the door (the pivot side). Begin with the vertical glass stops. Each stop snaps into a machined groove in the door rail.
Repeat this process for the opposite vertical side.If the extrusion feels long, gently bow it during installation—this ensures a tight seal once seated.
Next, install the bottom rail glass stop, followed by the top rail glass stop. These shorter stops fit neatly between the vertical glass stops.
Once the interior glass stops are installed, flip the door to the exterior side.If any stops shift during handling, simply snap them back into place.
The Alumitrex door system includesintegrated glazing blocks built into the bottom and top rails. These blocks ensure the glass never contacts raw aluminum and allow for proper door adjustment later.
For this installation, we’re using 3/16 in tempered clear glass.Carefully set the glass onto the glazing vinyl so it rests evenly on the glazing blocks.
Make sure the glass is fully seated and pushed down against the bottom glazing blocks. This ensures the glass is properly supported and won’t shift after installation.
With the glass in place, repeat the same process on the exterior side:
Once the glass stop starts, you can usually work it down by hand.A rubber mallet can be used if needed, but avoid striking too hard.
The pre-installed glazing blocks are strategically placed to work with theglass jack adjustment screw located in the top rail.
This adjustment allows you to fine-tune door sag and alignment by raising or lowering the glass slightly. We’ll cover that adjustment process in a separate video.
Once fully glazed, the door is ready to be hung and fitted with push/pull hardware. The Alumitrex storefront door system is designed for fast, clean glazing with professional results.
Alumitrex storefront doors are available with or without glass, depending on your project needs.
