How To Order First Defense Armor Plates

Measure the width of the door. The armor plate ordered should be atleast 2 inches less than actual door width.

Armor Plate Types

First Defense armor plates are offered in three types of materials: stainless steel, aluminum, and plastic.

Stainless Steel Armor Plates

Stainless steel armor plates are heavy duty and very durable. If you require fire rated armor plates, stainless steel must be used, as aluminum or plastic cannot be fire rated.

Fire Rating

A Warnock Hersey Listed fire label designed for installation on commercial doors up to 3 hours is given to each First Defense fire rated armor plate.

Available Mounting Options

Self Drilling Screws Mounting Option

This is the most popular mounting option. The armor plate comes pre-drilled with pilot holes, and self drilling screws are included. This option is available for fire rated armor plates.

Security Torx Screws Mounting Option

The armor plate comes pre-drilled with pilot holes, and security torx screws are included. This option is available for fire rated armor plates.

Countersunk Holes Option

This option is only eligible for armor plates that are mounted by self drilling screws or security torx screws. The pre-drilled pilot holes in the armor plate are counter sunk, meaning they are drilled with a recess so that the head of the screw will seat flush in the armor plate when tightened.

Bevel Edges Option

Standard armor plates come with a square edge. This option allows you to add a bevel to all 4 sides of the armor plate. The bevel edge helps blend the armor plate into the door better visually and provides a more finished appearance. The bevel edge option is not available for plastic armor plates.
