The thickness of the door stretcher plate allows the Protege to easily absorb all impact from objects, helping increase your door's lifespan. The Protege stretcher plate can be installed on commercial or residential doors. The Protege stretcher plate is also available with a fire rating for installation on commercial or residential fire doors. Remember, a commercial or residential door is by no means inexpensive. Protege Fire Rating Option
Fire Rated Stretcher Plate UL approved for steel fire doors and frames rated up to and including 3 hours; wood composite type fire doors rated up to 1-1/2 hours.
NFPA 80 STANDARDS
The NFPA states that (2) 4.5 Protection Plates: Factory-installed protection plates shall be installed in accordance with the listing of the door. Field-installed protection plates shall be labeled and installed in accordance with their listing
Exception: Labeling is not required where the top of the protection plate is not more than 16 in. (406 mm) above the bottom of the door
